On Saturday 11 October 2008 at Kingston Links, a group of 144 individuals participated in SCKC Golf Charity Day (www.sckc.org.au). The beautiful weather attracted golf enthusiasts and beginners alike for a friendly ambrose competition; each group sharing a hole with a local Pro showing all how to keep the ball in play.

The clear winner for the day was a young Victorian junior champion Bianca Ling who led her ambrose team mate to an impressive 3 under Par. Well done! All participants were able to forget their golfing woes with a scrumptious barbeque lunch and seriously fun auctioning of various equipment supplied by sponsors. All proceeds were donated to the Southern Cross Kids Camp.

Southern Cross Kids' Camp is a unique organisation designed not only to alleviate the emotional pain of children aged 7-12 years who are victims of abuse and violence, but SCKC also endeavour to help with the restoration of the individual's self worth.

With over 40,000 substantiated cases of child abuse in Australia annually, it is vital that Southern Cross Kids' Camps are able to continue to change the negative impact abuse has on a child and make a significant difference in their journey toward wholeness. These innocent child victims deserve to be given every opportunity to develop a sense of personal competence, improved social and personal skills as well as assisting them to become resilient, productive members of society, despite the adversity they have encountered.
