A useful Outlook update

A useful Outlook update

Outlook is making a change which could prove quite handy in saving time in your day.

But the change is only coming to one version of Outlook.

Right now, Microsoft has two versions of Outlook for Windows.

There’s the classic version, which is the one most businesses still use today.

And then there's the new one, which hasn’t been as widely adopted yet.

Microsoft is adding a new feature and it’s only for the classic version of Outlook.

And it’s all to do with meetings 📅

Soon, you’ll be able to chat to Copilot inside Outlook and get it to book and organise meetings.

For example:

“Find a 30-minute slot next week with Sam & David”

“Book a room”

“Draft a simple agenda”

“Send the invite”

Microsoft’s built in AI assistant (Copilot) takes care of the rest.

It’s like an admin assistant that already understands your emails, calendar, contacts, and company setup. Which allows things to get done very fast.

There are two places where the feature can be accessed:

💬 Outlook has a chat panel

🗓️ Or there’s a button in your calendar to “schedule with Copilot”

This has the potential to make a real impact, because meetings require a bunch of tiny tasks:

  • Finding a suitable time for all participants
  • Preparing agendas
  • Booking rooms
  • Sending invites

Obviously, these are not big, time-consuming tasks, but over the course of a day with multiple meetings it can add up quite quickly.

Copilot can take the boring admin stuff off your hands and leave you to stay focused on the conversation.

The feature is set to become widely available now but does require a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.

❓If AI can help you save time with your emails and calendar, would you let it help, or do you still prefer to do it yourself?
