When’s the last time you were typing some lengthy notes, wishing you could just tell your computer what to write.
Well, Windows 11 has some good news for those that use voice dictation to write emails, or draft reports.
A new feature call Fluid Dictation is being released. It’s set to make the process a lot smoother, smarter, and thankfully, less frustrating.
So, what is Fluid Dictation?
Essentially it improves and upgrades the existing voice dictation tool already on Windows 11 with the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
It can tidy things up automatically as you go, such as removing ‘ums’ and ‘likes’ from the text. Also, with fewer missing commas and misplaced full stops.
The system will produce a more polished finished draft with improved grammar, giving you something that looks more professional right out of the gate.
It’s convenient but could also provide real benefits for businesses like yours.
Think about the time saved if staff could dictate meeting notes without having to edit them afterwards. Or field workers being able to capture job details on the go, with the text being clean enough to send directly to clients.
Less time editing and fixing means more time saved. And that’s valuable for every business.
Microsoft has been clear, for those concerned about privacy. All dictated content stays private as it’s all done locally on the device. Nothing is sent to the cloud. And sensitive fields like passwords will have dictation turned off by default.
At this stage Fluid Dictation is only available on the latest Copilot+ PCs. These are Windows 11 machines that handle AI operations locally on the device. So, for those with standard Windows 11 PCs, you won’t see this feature just yet.
But it gives us a sign of what’s to come. Voice dictation that is more natural and requires less fixing is only going to become a more common feature. And for small and medium sized businesses, these quiet upgrades will make everyday tasks a little bit easier.
