IT Support for Aged Care Providers

Aged care doesn't stop at five o'clock. Your systems need to be there at 3 am for a medication round, on a Sunday when a family member calls, and at handover when two shifts are in the building at once.

Techware provides IT support for aged care providers across Australia. We look after the infrastructure, security, and day-to-day support behind residential facilities, home care, and community services.

A lot has changed recently. The Aged Care Act 2024 commenced on 1 November 2025, and much of what it asks providers to do sits on systems that have to work.

Let's Talk

Why Aged Care IT Is Different From Office IT

An aged care facility is not simply an office where nurses happen to work. Its systems support resident care every hour of the day, so the demands are very different.

ic-care-minutes

Care Minutes

Care minutes must be reported against set targets, even when technology slows staff down. Time lost to a slow login or a failed connection during handover is time taken away from residents. It can also affect the figures the provider reports.
ic-nurse-call-and-building-systems

Nurse Call and Building Systems

Nurse call, door access, CCTV, and resident Wi-Fi often share infrastructure with your care software. A network problem in a facility is rarely contained to one thing.
ic-round-the-clock-operation

Round-the-Clock Operation

Aged care runs well beyond normal office hours. When IT support is only available from nine to five, night and weekend teams may be left dealing with problems on their own.
ic-shared-devices-and-logins

Shared Devices and Logins

Laptops move between trolleys, tablets stay on shared charging docks, and several staff may use the same device during a shift. Access needs to work around that reality, rather than assuming every employee has their own computer.
ic-resident-information

Resident Information

What you hold is health information, about people who often cannot advocate for themselves. The Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles apply to it. The Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies if it gets out.
ic-multiple-sites-and-field-workers

Multiple Sites and Field Workers

A home care worker in someone's kitchen needs the same access controls as a nurse at a workstation in your main facility. Getting that consistent across sites takes planning.

Aged Care Software We Support

Your care management platform is where the day happens. Techware supports the environment it runs in: the servers, the cloud access, user permissions, integrations, and the connections that hold it all together.

  • Leecare
  • AutumnCare
  • AlayaCare
  • Telstra Health
  • Person Centred Software
  • Inerva
  • Microsoft 365
  • rostering and payroll systems
  • nurse call platforms
  • medication management systems
  • My Health Record connections
  • GPMS reporting access

We're not the software vendor, and we don't pretend to be. If your platform has a bug in it, that's a call to them. If it won't open, won't print, won't sync, or won't let someone log in, that's usually us. It's the same split that shapes our IT support for medical practices.

IT Services for Aged Care Providers

ic-managed-it-support

Managed IT Support

Monitoring, updates, user support, and issue resolution. Response targets are built around when your team actually works.
ic-cyber-security

Cyber Security

Access controls, multi-factor authentication, and endpoint protection help keep systems secure.
ic-cloud-and-remote-access

Cloud and Remote Access

Approved staff need secure access wherever they are working, whether that is another site, a client’s home, or a tablet used between visits.
ic-backup-and-recovery

Backup and Recovery

Backups should be checked regularly, and recovery plans tested before something goes wrong. Care records cannot simply disappear for a day.
ic-networks-and-wifi

Networks and Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi needs to reach every wing, room, and outdoor care area. Care devices, building systems, and resident internet should run separately, so streaming does not slow down medication rounds.
ic-phone-systems

Phone Systems

VoIP phone systems that handle family calls, after-hours contact, and transfers between wings or sites.

Technology and the Aged Care Act 2024

The Aged Care Act 2024 took effect on 1 November 2025. The strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards started on the same date, and Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme.

The changes also created a fair amount of record work. Existing care plans became care and service plans, which must be reviewed within 12 months. Residential agreements follow the same timeline and may need to be changed or replaced. Staff will handle most of that work in the systems they already use to manage resident information.

Techware can help with the technology side:

  • access controls that line up with the Statement of Rights
  • audit-ready logs, which an IT audit can check
  • reporting access through GPMS
  • document control for updated plans and agreements
  • retention and backup for records under review
  • email security for the correspondence carrying them

Cyber Security for Aged Care Providers

Resident health records, staff details, next-of-kin contacts, and payment information, all sitting in one place. It's a good haul for an attacker, and the sector knows it.

ic-phishing-and-email-fraud

Phishing and Email Fraud

Attackers pose as suppliers, referrers, or someone from head office. Good filtering catches most of it before a staff member has to make that judgement call at the end of a long shift.
ic-ransomware

Ransomware

A locked care system stops medication rounds and handovers cold. Filtering, network segmentation, and backups that have actually been restored reduce both the odds and the damage.
ic-account-compromise

Account Compromise

Shared logins and accounts belonging to staff who left two years ago turn up in almost every review we do. Multi-factor authentication and a regular access clean-up deal with both.
ic-breach-response

Breach Response

Under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, you need to be able to say what was accessed and when. That answer comes from logging you set up beforehand.

Frequently Asked Questions

It covers the systems behind care delivery: servers, networks, devices, the environment your care management software runs in, backups, security controls, and user access. That applies across residential facilities, home care, and community services.
Yes, along with community services and organisations running several sites or a workforce out in the field.
We support the environment around it, covering servers, cloud access, user permissions, integrations, and connectivity. Bugs in the software itself go to your vendor. Everything the platform depends on is ours.
The Act and the strengthened Quality Standards started on 1 November 2025, and a lot of what they ask for is records, reporting, and access control. All of that sits in your systems.
Aged care operates around the clock, and support can be arranged to reflect that. We aim to respond to urgent calls within an hour, with cover set out in your support agreement.
Yes. We help providers tighten access controls, roll out multi-factor authentication, sort out endpoint protection and backups, and work towards Essential Eight alignment.
